New Voucher Types

We are excited to announce that, as from today, you can use Pocket Angel Assist to buy vouchers for clothing. We will use these to supply St Anne’s with much needed warm articles for the winter months, and lighter weight clothes when the weather turns warmer.

So please consider whether you would like to supply someone today with essentials such as socks, a hat, a scarf, gloves, or a coat. As the weather improves, the types of clothing vouchers will change to reflect this

Partnering to Achieve

Here at Pocket Angel we are excited to announce a new partnership with an organisations that is working towards addressing social deprivation.

St Anne’s Centre provides food, clothing, hygiene products and services to those experiencing homelessness and social deprivation.

Together, the two organisations aim to ensure that those who need it most will receive the services that you have so kindly donated through our vouchers.

New Service Provider

We are delighted to announce that today we have a new service provider in our community family. Georgies in Hove is a family run traditional cafe which serves lunch, teas, dinners, and take-aways.

It is a super addition to our range of food offerings and also provides a lovely location to sit either inside or outside.

Partnering to Achieve

Here at Pocket Angel we are excited to announce a new partnership with two dynamic organisations who are working towards addressing social deprivation.

Justlife prevents those living in temporary accommodation in Brighton and Manchester from falling into rough sleeping by addressing their health, housing and wellbeing needs, alongside research & policy work to identify long-term solutions to homelessness. Pocket Angel is partnering with Justlife as the distributor of vouchers which are gifted to us.

onHand uses technology to link volunteers with people needing help with errands and other simple tasks. Pocket Angel is partnering with onHand to pick up and deliver food when the recipient of vouchers cannot go out.

Together, the three organisations aim to ensure that those who need it most will receive the services that you have so kindly donated through our vouchers.

We are also excited that these partnerships may be the springboard to allow Pocket Angel to expand into other towns and cities once we have fully established that our model and technology provide a new means for people to give.

We are Live!

After some updates from Android and Apple, Pocket Angel Assist required changes and retesting this meant a short delay in our launch.

However, we are delighted to announce that we are now available for download on both stores and you can purchase vouchers directly from this site using the “Vouchers” link at the top of every page.

These are exciting times for us and we want to thank all of our supporters for your help and encouragement along the way.

Once we have proven our model works in Brighton, we will look to roll out in other locations in the UK and around the world.

March 2020 – COVID-19

COVID-19 has changed everyone’s lives and plans. Pocket Angel is/was working towards the launch of the Pocket Angel Assist app, and continuing our work to help longer term through our Pocket Angel Restore initiative with Equal Footings and Building Heroes. These activities continue, but we must be pragmatic about timescales – more news to follow.

We have launched a dedicated COVID-19 page here on our site – you can access it through the link on the main menu at the top of every page. We are going to use this to provide information and ideas as and when we find them – we will not update the page just for the sake of change, so please do come back on a regular basis.

Although we are going to be focused on the Brighton region as this is where we are planning to launch and test Pocket Angel Assist before rolling it out more widely, we are hoping that much of the information will be able to be applied more widely. For example, the efforts that Brighton and Hove council are undertaking to find accommodation away from dormitory-style shelters is being mirrored in Bristol, where the council there are trying to find 450 rooms in suitable buildings to be able to provide support services to the residents.

Obviously, we would love to know what you think, please feel free to reach out to us at info@pocketangelhome.co.uk – we can’t promise to answer every email we receive, but we will take constructive ideas and thoughts on board.
